There are a few way to ensure that customers can get the latest Android update. One is purchase hot selling flagship level phone. Some company's flagship has bad sales that they give up directly to care about the phone anymore.
Second is purchase phone that is under Google program. The update is carried out by Google and not the OEM. This is called Android One but these phone normally have shitty spec compare to the pricing.
Third is purchase phone by Google but the problem is the availability is very low. Not practical.
The last is the most easy one, buy a new phone. Phone maker only promise to provide maximun 2 years software support. Some d.o.a.
